Learners & Mentors

Our Learners: Driving Forward

Obtaining a driver’s licence can be a significant challenge for many young people. Learner drivers are required to complete a set number of supervised driving hours before they can attempt the practical driving test and progress to a Provisional (P1) Licence.

For some, especially those in vulnerable or disadvantaged circumstances, meeting these requirements is difficult and sometimes impossible due to a lack of access to a suitable vehicle or a supervising driver. This can ultimately prevent them from ever obtaining their licence.

Not having a driver’s licence can limit a person’s access to employment, education, community involvement and essential services. It can also restrict personal independence, which may negatively affect mental health and wellbeing.

Our Mentors: Removing Barriers

Our Mentors offer a supported and flexible one hour lessons are conducted by our fully trained driving mentors who have completed Queensland Transport and Main Roads PrepL Supervisor Course.

  • Lessons are booked by the learner driver in advance to teach time management.

    • Developing foundational road safety skills;
    • Building on-road confidence and competency;
    • Addressing individual strengths and areas for improvement; and
    • Preparing learners to successfully pass their Provisional (P1) driving test.

All lessons are held in our Road Ready vehicle, a safe and fully insured car.
